Do you guys remember the fancy stitched book covers by Jillian Tamaki that I posted about awhile back? I am extremely excited because one of my favorite blogs, Feeling Stitchy, is hosting a competition to make your own stitchy renditions of book covers. I think Melisa and I are both going to give it a go. I've been scouring the internet for possible book choices and have a few narrowed down. I would love opinions from everyone about which of these they would like to see stitched up. Which one would you choose? I reserve the right to make the final decision, but really want to hear what you think. I am also open to other suggestions if anyone has any really beautiful or intricate book covers that they love. These are my picks. I won't tell you which one I'm leaning towards.
I will say that my least favorite cover is Beowulf only because it's so plain. You have some awesome ones to choose from here.
ReplyDeleteI chose Beowulf as an option because that entire chain headdress could be done in a chain stitch which could look really interesting (if I could execute it properly), but otherwise I agree that cover is not as cool as the others.
ReplyDeleteLove in the Time of Cholera. And not just because it's in my top 3 favorite books of all time.
ReplyDeleteI like the tiger cover because the orange could be really bright. I also like Pride and Prejudice because of the mix of black and white, which looks modern, and the clothes they're wearing, which are old-fashioned. I can't think of any other covers. What about A Million Little Pieces or Perfume?
ReplyDeleteThe dresses in the Importance of Being Earnest might be a fun thing to do.
ReplyDeleteeasy choice. high fidelity.
ReplyDeleteor something with a nord on it.
"anonymous" is evan, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSomething with a lot of color.
ReplyDeleteI think Kayla would execute the Book of Beasts (like the title - never heard of it) really well. She did such a great job on the portrait of my pug and this book cover could have lots of good colors and detail. Love in the Time of Cholera is my other favorite. BEAUUUUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteI'm drawn to Woodpecker - I love the book, love the cover. I *think* I will give it a shot :)
They are beautiful covers all of them, and great books too. The Woodpecker one is fun too, like if it were an old pack of Camel cigarettes :-)
ReplyDeleteKaylaMarie, it's time to buckle down and pick one.
ReplyDeleteI started working on my cover, but I won't say which one until I finish. Then I'll post pics, and request all your oohs and ahhs over at Feeling Stitchy.
